Student Learning Journey Online Component
What is the program about?
On an AFS program, every student does more than just travel — they go on a learning journey. Before, during and after an AFS High School Study Abroad program, every AFSer benefits from AFS learning activities. The SLJ Online component is a tool for AFSers to reflect and learn global skills, practice social impact and return home to become active global citizens.
What are the tasks of a facilitator?
Facilitate 4 Live Sessions of 90 minutes
Cohort size is around 30-40 for NH cohorts, 15-20 for SH cohorts.
Global You Adventurer
What is the program about?
A 5-week interactive virtual exchange program, for teens (aged 14-17) to develop key 21st-century global skills and build bridges across cultures.
What are the tasks of a facilitator?
Send welcome emails, facilitate 4 live sessions of 90 minutes, support student learning/basic customer service. Cohort size is around 25 participants.
Global You Changemaker
What is the program about?
A 12-week interactive virtual exchange program for teens (age 15-17), to develop global competence skills, create innovative social impact projects, and earn certification from the University of Pennsylvania Center for Social Impact Strategy.
What are the tasks of a facilitator?
Send welcome emails, facilitate 6 live sessions of 90 minutes, support student learning/basic customer service. This program is usually facilitated in pairs with another facilitator to co-manage the cohort. Cohort size is generally around 15 participants.
Global STEM
What is the program about?
This is a mix of different virtual programs, from 12 to 5 weeks. Students could be teens or educators. Students will learn about intercultural education, sustainability and how to create positive social impact.
What are the tasks of a facilitator?
Send welcome emails, facilitate 24 live sessions of 90 minutes, support student learning/basic customer service. This program is usually facilitated in pairs with another facilitator to co-manage the cohort. Cohort size is generally around 15 participants.
Global Up Abroad for 18+
What is the program about?
The AFS Global Up Abroad develops learners’ global competence before, during and after an international experience. It is a program for 18 plus students.
What are the tasks of a facilitator?
Facilitate 4 Live Sessions of 90 mins/complete rubric of learning.
Track student learning in Bridge.
Reply to learner needs (ie. password reset etc.)
Issue certificate upon completion.
Co-hort size is generally around 5-15
Effect+ for the Classroom
What is the program about?
The Effect+ for the Classroom Program equips educators with the intercultural skills needed to address the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with their students through a full-scholarship program.

Foundations
What is the program about?
This course is the online introductory level of our flagship ICL training. Foundations increases the intercultural and global competence of volunteers and staff across the network through interatcive online modules and Facilitated Dialogue Sessions that deepen learning and provide a fun opportunity to meet other AFSers around the globe.
What are the tasks of a facilitator?
Facilitate 3 live sessions of 90 mins.
