Applications are now open for the AFS Effect+ for the Classroom program from 10 December 2025 to 14 January 2026. This is your chance to join a truly global community of educators committed to empowering the next generation of active global citizens.
Through this fully funded virtual program, selected teachers will join an international learning community and begin their journey with the AFS Global Up Educator online certificate course. This includes a blend of self-paced content modules and live dialogue sessions on Zoom, exploring topics such as culture and identity, empathy in action, and looking beyond assumptions. In these facilitated sessions, teachers engage directly with peers from around the world, exchanging perspectives and reflecting on their own educational practice.
After completing this foundational learning, teachers bring global competence education into their classrooms using the AFS Educator Toolkit, drawing on the UN Sustainable Development Goals as a guiding framework to engage their students in learning about Active Global Citizenship. Participants also remain connected to a virtual network of global peers who continue to collaborate and share ideas long after the program ends.
“The highlights of the program for me were the meaningful reflections, the practical strategies for building global competence in the classroom, and the opportunity to learn from diverse perspectives. It helped me grow both personally and professionally, and strengthened my commitment to creating inclusive learning environments.” — Ghanaian teacher, 2025–26 Cohort 1 participant
If you’re passionate about building inclusive, globally minded learning environments, this program is for you. Apply here by 14 January 2026 and be part of a community shaping the future of education.
