This is a 90-minute foundational session designed for AFS support staff. This masterclass clarifies what effective support truly means—beyond fixing or advising—and grounds support staff in presence, boundaries, cultural curiosity, and appropriate action. Aligned with AFS Quality Standards, the session strengthens skills for proactive check-ins via Monthly Contact & Learning Reflections, ethical decision-making, documentation, and escalation. Participants learn how to support participants, host families, and volunteers in a way that is emotionally attuned, culturally sensitive, AFS compliant, and sustainable—without over-involvement or burnout. The target audience for this session is Support Staff and Program Directors.
