AFS Intercultural Programs is thrilled to announce that applications are now open for study abroad scholarships exclusively for Vietnamese high school students. As part of its mission to promote global citizenship and intercultural understanding, AFS will offer 10 full scholarships to outstanding students from Vietnam for the 2025 academic year.
This unique scholarship opportunity allows young people to experience life in France, Germany, Italy and Thailand. The full scholarships cover all program costs, including travel, accommodation with a host family, tuition in local schools, and cultural immersion activities. The scholarship application deadline is January 1, 2025.
Eligible candidates must be Vietnamese high school students with a strong interest in global citizenship and a passion for exploring different cultures. AFS encourages students from all backgrounds, especially those from underrepresented communities, young women, and students with financial need, to apply. This is an incredible opportunity to expand young people’s horizons, gain a global perspective, and build lifelong connections with people from around the world.
Additionally, Vietnamese students will also be able to join AFS programs for a fee in countries like Australia, Canada, China, Denmark, France, Ireland, New Zealand, South Korea, Switzerland, and the USA.

This is the second year that AFS is offering scholarships for study abroad programs to young people in Vietnam. Since 2024, AFS has been offering study abroad and virtual exchange programs in Vietnam, aiming to strengthen intercultural understanding, enhance education, and foster global citizenship. Vietnam, one of Asia’s most dynamic economies, boasts a youthful population where over 60% are under 30, many with a deep interest in international education. As Vietnam continues to thrive economically, the demand for global perspectives and cross-cultural understanding is greater than ever.
“Expanding study abroad programs to Vietnam enhances cultural exchange between young people worldwide, helping them develop a deeper understanding and appreciation of different cultures. It fosters global citizenship, a key value at AFS. We are proud to extend AFS scholarships to Vietnam and provide these transformative experiences to more young people,” said Daniel Obst, President and CEO of AFS Intercultural Programs.
