As part of the AFS strategic plan to develop alumni engagement and foster social impact, the AFS Youth Assembly Alumni Coordinator will engage a diverse community of 20,000 alumni of the AFS Youth Assembly, and provide support, information, communications and opportunities that support them as active global citizens.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Director of the Youth Assembly & Strategic Youth Initiatives, the Consultant, AFS Youth Assembly Alumni Coordinator will conduct global youth outreach and develop and coordinate activities related to alumni engagement and social impact.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive strategies and tactics to cultivate and sustain a vibrant community of young leaders and professionals within the AFS Youth Assembly Network.
  • Maintain ongoing engagement post-event with youth delegates with the goal of local action and impact throughout the year.
  • Help conduct the AFS Youth Assembly action and impact program, with a focus on measuring impact.
  • Identify partnerships that provide exceptional opportunities for alumni to get more involved in social action and/or sustainable development initiatives.
  • Assist in developing opportunities for Youth Assembly delegates during the event.
  • Explore new and unique ways to enrich the alumni experience using sound research and analysis.
  • Develop the annual network impact report.

Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Required to have a BA/BS
  • 3-5 years of experience, ideally with previous experience in community/alumni engagement.
  • A strong understanding of global issues and United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
  • Experience managing basic social media across all major platforms
  • Experience hosting or supporting large virtual meetings on zoom or a similar platform
  • Strong interpersonal, global competence and communications skills in an international setting, including ability to build working relationships across and outside of the AFS network.
  • Ability to work with websites and technical tools, including WordPress, MailChimp (or comparable email marketing platforms), and Typeform, Google suite, social media channels
  • Strong awareness of communication trends of youth from various cultural backgrounds
  • Proven ability to work closely with and relate to young audience
  • Professional command of English language necessary
  • Ability to operate independently and within a team environment
  • Ability to travel to the US for events at least twice a year

Annual Consulting Fee

Up to $40,000 USD, depending on experience and location. This is a consulting role. Benefits are not included.
