About the position

AFS International is seeking a Consultant, Sponsored Program Specialist to support our Programs Team. This is an exciting opportunity for a talented and enthusiastic professional to help manage and grow key initiatives for a great organization with a powerful mission, global footprint, and enthusiastic alumni and volunteers. We are looking for someone who will bring energy and determination to the role.

The Consultant, Sponsored Program Specialist will primarily support the Global STEM Changemakers Initiative: a diverse suite of fully-sponsored scholarships for mobility/travel, virtual, and hybrid exchange programs. The Global STEM Changemakers Initiative funds 5,000+ scholarships for young people and educators around the world to participate in mobility, virtual, and hybrid exchange programs focused on STEM and Sustainability. The Consultant, Sponsored Program Specialist will help oversee specific aspects of the programs, including student enrollment, database management, and electronic communications. In supporting this program, the Consultant, Sponsored Program Specialist will become familiar with AFS International’s systems and operations for both mobility/travel-based and digital exchange programs, and may support the Programs Team with additional needs.

Key Deliverables

As the Consultant, Sponsored Program Specialist, your primary deliverables will include:

  • Assistance with managing global program operations for the Global STEM Changemakers Initiative, including program planning, communications, promotion, student selection, and enrollment;
  • Management of student applications and files in our CRM system (Salesforce);
  • Overseeing our digital learning management platform (Bridge), including, enrolling students, student support, and tracking student progress & certification;
  • Working closely with AFS organizations and affiliates participating in these programs, including organizations based  in Australia, Belgium, Brazil, China, Egypt, Germany, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, South Africa, the UK, the USA, and expanding to additional countries;
  • Assistance with content creation for AFS social media, mailing lists, and newsletters;
  • Assistance with collecting and analyzing data for program evaluations and annual reports
  • Leveraging Salesforce knowledge to help build backend capabilities for fundraising and scholarship giving;
  • Leveraging Bridge knowledge to develop business insights that may support the operations of other digital and sponsored programs.

Position requirements

We are looking for the following in the ideal candidate, who will have at least 3 years of prior experience:

  • Demonstrated experience and comfort working with digital systems and digital communications
  • Experience with CRMs, Salesforce especially; with LMSs, Bridge if relevant
  • Experience supporting program operations, including recruitment, etc.
  • A resourceful go-getter, quickly able to grasp new systems and operations, including database, application, website, and social media
  • Strong interpersonal skills and intercultural sensitivity – we are a global organization and working at AFS means communicating across cultures on a daily basis
  • Professional/Working fluency in English; Additional language skills a plus
  • Ability and willingness to work remotely (if not based in New York City); including the remote use of Zoom, Salesforce, WordPress, Gmail and Google Suite products
  • IF U.S.-BASED: Authorized to work in the USA as well as the ability and willingness to travel within the US and/or internationally, if and as needed
  • IF NOT U.S.-BASED: The ability and willingness to travel to New York City occasionally, if and as needed

Education and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Salesforce experience
  • Project management experience
  • Familiarity with social media platforms, WordPress, and Google Suite
  • Design savvy
  • Determination, flexibility, and creativity

Location and anticipated start date

This position is a global/remote role. The approximate start date for the position is March 22, 2023.

Total consulting fee and additional notes

The total consulting fee range for this position is $35,000 – $55,000 annually. Rate will depend on location, qualifications, and experience.
