AFS Global You™ Adventurer

A 5-week interactive virtual exchange program, open to teens (aged 14-17) anywhere in the world, to develop key 21st-century global skills and build bridges across cultures.

This is a one-of-a-kind virtual program where you will enhance your intercultural communication skills and become part of a truly global community. In addition to having fun, you’ll learn from AFS intercultural learning experts based on more than 70 years of experience running exchange programs and other education programs in more than 60 countries.

What are the program dates?

The next Global You Adventurer cohorts will run:

July 7 – August 14, 2026
August 11 – September 18, 2026
September 8 – October 16, 2026
October 13 – November 21, 2026
November 10 – December 18, 2026

How long is the program?

The program includes 20 different go-at-your-own-speed modules, which take around 16 hours to complete over 5 weeks. You will also attend 4 online facilitated dialogue sessions where you will connect with the global peers in your cohort, as well as an AFS Qualified Facilitator, to reflect on the content, exchange ideas, and participate in group discussion as you build your global competence skills.

Global You programs are flexible and designed to fit around busy schedules. You can expect to spend approximately 2-3 hours per week in the program. Once you are enrolled, we’ll schedule the most optimal timeframes for you and your global peers to meet.

What do I need to participate in this program?

Do I get a certificate?

Yes! Earn your AFS Global Competence Certificate and become an Active Global Citizen. The certificate is supported by a Digital Credential issued in collaboration with Credly.

Your digital credential is a verifiable source that certifies your accomplishment and can be easily added to any professional platform or social media.

The Global You program will help you build valuable global skills that can set you apart and prepare you for your future pathways: in university, careers, and life.

The AFS Global You Adventurer program includes:

Membership in a customized global cohort with up to 25 other peers from around the world
16 hours of fun and learning featuring AFS’s award-winning and research-backed Global Competence Certificate
20 interactive online modules (with video instructions subtitled in English and Spanish)
A closed online forum for connecting and sharing with global peers
Interactive quizzes and assignments to help you reflect and learn
4 live online facilitated dialogue sessions run by specially-trained AFS Qualified Facilitators
Your own AFS Global Competence Certificate upon program completion
Access to the AFS Global Network of alumni and volunteers, active in over 60+ countries worldwide
